# WHAT IS AN ANDROID SKIN??
Initially, the Android smartphone is a smartphone running
Android OS also we can say Google’s OS. Now Google OS or Android OS has some unique
features. Android OS is basically an open-source OS. That means anybody can change
their codes as they like. This is where the Android Skin concept comes into the
picture.
Google provides the stock version of their OS and
since it is open-source the other brand changes the stock version
and names its own Android skin. For example, if we see Android smartphones of a different manufacturer every smartphone has a different user interface. We are providing different UI or Android Skin names of other brands below:
